Simply Cook box: Review

Simply Cook is a new concept food delivery service, which is becoming increasingly popular amongst families and professional couples alike. They are designed to provide creative cooking ideas for busy cooks who are pushed for time, but still want to enjoy healthy, exciting evening meals rather than bland ready-meals.

Simply cook boxes resemble the successful snack boxes from 'Graze', in that they are post-box-sized deliveries of healthy, experimental food that come straight to your home.  Each box contains 4 inspiring recipe cards and 4 small boxes containing the spice blends, pastes and stocks needed for each recipe. They offer original, exciting meal plans, and cater to gluten free diets. Recipes include: Sri-Lankan Duck Curry, Chicken Tagine, Spiced butternut squash risotto, Hungarian goulash soup, and many, many more! The first box you order can either be a 'Discovery box' or a 'Gluten free' box. However on subsequent orders, you can tailor the boxes to suite your own personal preferences.

Simply cook boast that all recipes are designed and blended by chefs from all around the world, therefore delivering restaurant quality meals to you in 20 minutes or under. All that is required from you is to follow the step by step instructions, and to add between 4-6 fresh ingredients. Box deliveries are monthly, and cost £10 per box. However they are currently offering 60% off your first box by entering the promo code 'dragonfruit' at the checkout. What's more, if you refer a friend, you'll get £5.00 credited to your account, which you can use towards your next box.

So far I've tried out two of the recipes from my Simply Cook box, and I have to say, I think their spice blends, pastes and stocks are absolutely delicious. They are bursting with flavour and the recipe cards are extremely easy to follow. If I was to make each dish from scratch, I'd need to spend a lot of money on buying unique spices for the necessary half a teaspoon quantity needed per meal. The boxes are great value for money because they have already compiled all the spice blends in their correct quantities.

Here are the results of my Chicken Tagine

And Jerk chicken

I added extra veg to my meals as I like to ensure that my family and I get at least 2 or 3 of our five-a-day at tea time, but the meals are quite substantial by themselves.
You can find a list of all their wonderful recipes and order your own box on their website: www.simplycook.com
